Open Culture: The Hottest Course on iTunes (and the Future of Digital Education)
I'll be using this podcast, the Understanding Computers course from Harvard in my Computer Systems inservice. This will serve a number of purposes...to enhance my own instruction, and to open educators to the value of podcasting in education.
Another new design for SessionsWest.com. I was digging for inspiration for this site, when Jeff called me from San Deigo last week right before he was about to go surfing. The color sheme is known as 'Morning surf,' and I built a custom flash player inspired by the album cover from the Fever Sessions. This new buildout has been my most complex drupal site to date. I embedded a photo gallery, and the mp3 player I mentioned earlier. I used drupal's front page module to give the home page a real clean, simple entry to the site. All in all it doesn't get much more simple, but I think thats what I like about it , and it reflects Jeff's style to the tee.
This is a post for all my readers that are currently struggling with building a washtub bass. I know there are many of you out there, and I'm sure you are frustrated with the tone you are getting from the old washtub. Well, help is on the way: Tubotonia's Washtub Bass Page.
I officially launched the rebuild of sessionswest.com today. The official website of a great local guitarist/singer-songwriter Jeff Anderson, a.k.a. el Jefe, and his recording studio in Boerne, TX. El Jefe's music is an eclectic fusion of southern blues, country, and gospel. Some refer to Jeff's tunes as simply 'good ol' down home feel good music.'
His latest release, Shine, is an inspirational collection of tunes that will brighten even the gloomiest of days. Shine is featured in the audio player @ sessionswest.com. Head on over and give er' a listen.
Features of the site include an audio player, custom video from Jeff's studio, and a photo gallery. Stay tuned for updates and add-ons.

The Tuscarawas River Band signature cover of the Devil Went Down To Georgia. If you've yet to hear of the Tuscarawas River Band, this will give you a little taste, with a rendition of the Daniels/Clemens masterpiece. Follow the link:
The sounds of the Original TRB - I updated the playlist in the flashplayer above to include some of the old recordings from the original Tuscarawas River Band. Stay tuned for an entire tribute section with audio, imagery, and special surprises from the ol' days.
After looking through a box that was stored away, I came across old tour schedules, pictures, and cds. There was even a disc of photographs by Dave Bayo from Danny's Grill. I'm in the process of digitizing all of this material to include in the tribute section. In the meantime, enjoy the tunes on the flashplayer. There is even a high energy 'Big River' with Gus from the Juggling Suns on keys.
I decided to migrate all of my audio files from audio.jessecravens.com to here. So if you are one of my two fans, besides my wife and mom, than you will be able to access them from this site. These will include the entire Inspiration is Bliss album.
I'm working my way through building a custom flash player for the album.
I'll also be adding all of the old Tuscarawas River Band shows to this site as well. I have been wanting to do that for years, but just haven't gotten to it. Should be interesting.
By the way, some of these files are available in the flash player above.
